Wanted to provide a place for anything with regard to advertisers, current and future.
As of today, the following businesses are advertising on the new WVKO:
Open Sky Day Spa
Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop
Ross Produce
Miracle Motor Sales
Nationwide Children's Sports Medicine
This Week Community Newspapers
Chipotle
Used Kids Records
Meat-Packers Outlet
The following are advertisers waiting to get their spots on the air, and my hunch is the list is far from complete:
CleanLeft.com (my business)
Fitness and Nutrition Centers
Both lists are sure to increase quickly.
I have offered to help sign up more advertisers for WVKO during my off hours. I work as a Customer Service Assistant for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (Ohio Department of Public Safety), a union position. I'm a member of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association and the local LGBT business group Network Columbus. I hope my connections with labor groups and the LGBT community will lead to many more advertisers.
And in case you don't know this already...I am committing to a minimum purchase of $4,000 in 30-second spots, average of $300 per month, between now and December 2008. The amount will be even greater based on sales at CleanLeft.com during the period.
End of anything that remotely resembles shameless self-promotion. I'll leave that to Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz (hee hee).
This is where to send Gary information on businesses interested in advertising. The radio people in Columbus are watching (Johnboy Crenshaw among them), and the key to conquering the naysayers is to show progressive talk can be profitable.
So have at it: Send your leads on potential advertisers. And fellow advertisers, share your success stories as they unfold. Further, if anyone has a promotional idea we can sponsor, share it.
Here's one to get things started: Wouldn't it be a hoot if next June, we get Big Eddie here while his son David plays at the Memorial, Steph and C.C. Goldwater make a campaign stop, and Rachel Maddow hosts the Stonewall Columbus Pride celebration?
Let's get crazy, and let's make money...especially for the new 1580 WVKO.
