Wow. I was listening online to Big Ed this afternoon and what do I hear as bumper music on WVKO? The master. Frank Zappa, Apostrophe, wow. I knew there was something I loved about you guys. Kudos to who ever chose the bumper music and please always include FZ in your list. <grin> My two greatest (non-family) joys, liberal politics and Frank Zappa.

I'm A-grinnin'
'Cause I'm A-pickin'
Thanks for noticing thatsjustme.
Anyone sharp enough to spot the other artists now in rotation as bumper music?

Michael, I don't recognize most of the bumper music used, though I thought I heard Kronos Quartet one day last week. Whatever you use, just keep up the great work.

You play an ambient groove at certain periods, but I don't know who it is.

Michael, I believe I detected King Crimson's "Cat Food" with that haunting piano and jazzy kind of timing. Nice. I'd love to see your iTunes playlist. :-)

Is it ProgTalk or ProgRock? I'm lovin' both!
How about Brian Eno's "Sombre Reptiles" from "Another Green World"? Or anything from Eno, including Roxy Music, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Robert Wyatt, 801, ...

We do have some sharp ears in the audience. That was indeed "Cat Food" you heard.
And Russ, I'm sure you'll end up hearing some of that stuff, in fact yesterday I was fiddling with tracks from Bowie and Talking Heads, I just didn't manage to find the right bits. But I will. I actually now have a backlog of stuff to use.
This has been fun, I'm glad other people are enjoying it also.
SO, thatsjustme, Nice job again being the first one to ID "Cat Food." Did you just know the song or did the time signature give it away (I mean how many other songs of the rock era are in 19/8 time?). Have you IDed the other bumpers in the current rotation yet?
Here's a small hint, one should be fairly easy while the other might be quite a bit harder.

Mahavishnu Orchestra has some unusual time signatures.

Michael, I know the song, own the actual vinyl album (in addition to the CD) "Court of the Crimson King" which also contains the interesting "21st Century Schizoid Man". I recognized it immediately, the piano is unmistakable. I'm frequently interrupted as I listen to the station so I don't get a chance to catch all the bumper music, but my ears are always alert for what's coming next.
Nice job, Michael.
Oh yeah, Russ, I love Mahavishnu. John McLaughlin may be the most under rated guitarist of the last 30 years.

I heard "Peaches En Regalia" last weekend. Nice! :)

I could swear I hear Power Station as well as "Kid Charlemagne" the other day.

Dang! I didn't know you cats were so musically hip!
And that upgraded webstream - it sounds GREAT.

I heard "Peaches" too, but I couldn't recognize the version. Zappa recorded a lot of versions of the song and of course it was recorded by a few others. Michael, which CD did that cut come from?
